300 Hour Certification in An Awareness Based Approach to Structural Integration
Deepen Your Understanding and Effectiveness as a Massage Therapist!

July 19th – August 27th, 2010
6 week full immersion program

ABOUT THE CLASS
In this 300 hour intensive, you will have the time, the space, and the invitation, to slow down your process, and to start to notice what is really true for you.

This body of work facilitates greater awareness and the ability to live a more fully embodied life.

We will be working with the myofascial system, to improve the overall functioning of the body/mind. Patterns of chronic holding and congestion in the tissues impair the free flow of precious fluids and nutrients to the cells of the body, leaving parts of ourselves shut down or deadened. This affects not only posture, organs and whole systems but also our perceptions and ways of being in the world. This work is a skillful and effective means of opening the pathways by which we are fed. You will learn to work “deep”, not “hard”, to free up the connective tissues, the medium in which all the metabolic processes occur. As the body opens, we experience less restriction, fuller range of motion, more balanced alignment and a sense of freedom and well being. In a contemplative setting, you will learn a ten session model of very specific techniques for releasing the whole body.

We will be drawing on the work of Ida Rolf, cutting edge cell biologist James Oschman, Bruce Lipton, Neuroscientist Candace Pert and others, to gain a deeper understanding of the actual science that supports the body/mind union

TOPICS COVERED:
• Technique of ten session bodywork
• Body reading
• Awareness facilitation & Therapeutic skills
• Anatomy & Physiology
• Kinesiology
• Nomadics Movement Training

This is a 6 week, full time Intensive, with class scheduled for Monday – Friday, from 9:00am – 5:00. There is also a clinic practicum Wednesday evening and Saturday morning.

“The highest function of education is to bring about an integrated individual, who is capable of dealing with life as a whole."
—J. Krishnamurti

In this training we will be working with a model of awareness and self empowerment, rather then a “fix it mentality” Although many conditions are improved and often resolved with this work, it’s working with the understanding that “awareness precedes transformation”. If I’m not aware of what my patterns of holding are…there is no hope of change. As soon as I become aware of what I’m doing…there lies the opportunity for change.

“You can’t do what you want, until you know what you’re doing”
—Moshe Feldenkreis
